BumbleBee Summer Tennis Camp in NYC

Our summer tennis camp on the West Side of Manhattan, for beginner tennis players ages 5-10, includes swimming and other sports.  Half Day and Full Day camp options available.

Agenda and Activities
Tennis

The BumbleBee Tennis Camp is perfect for beginners and advanced beginners between the ages of 5 and 10 years who want to learn and improve on their tennis skills. The tennis camp will build a foundation of the core tennis skills including the forehand, backhand, volley, and serve. In addition, exercises will focus to improve on other tennis related skills such as hand-eye coordination, timing, stamina, and reflexes. The tennis drills, based on the QuickStart tennis program put forth by the USTA, allow for instant tennis success. Tennis can be a difficult sport to learn, but with our specially designed tennis activities, students are playing the game of tennis quicker than ever!

Swimming

Students also have an hour of swim time Monday through Thursday.  There is a certified lifeguard on duty at all times. Students who are comfortable in the water can swim, play swim games, or improve their swimming abilities with swim instruction.  There is no swimming on Fridays (therefore, tennis is done for the whole day).

However, if your young child is not comfortable in the water yet, that’s OK! We will be happy to help them become familiar with the water and teach them swimming techniques. Learning swimming with their friends makes it all the more fun.

We have helped many young swimmers who were scared of the water at first, with our patient instruction, realize they love the water. One young student went from just dipping his toes in the pool to swimming laps back and forth with the assistance of a swim noodle.

FAQ’s

What happens on rainy days?

If it rains, we will use the gym on the third floor of the building.

Do campers ever leave the building?

No. Since all the facilities are located within the building, students will never have to leave the building to get to another activity.

Doesn’t it get hot outside?

In the morning, the wall surrounding the court, creates shade for most of the court since the sun is coming up from an angle. There is also an air-conditioned lobby next to the court that students can sit in to take a break. In the afternoon ,the tennis matches and games take place indoors in the gymnasium.

Do you offer extended hours for half day campers?

Right now we do not offer extended hours for half day campers.

We care very much about our campers safety.  Campers should be supervised up until the start of the camp at 9am and must be picked up at 12pm at the end of the camp.  There is a grace period of 20 minutes for pickup.  There is a $15 late fee for students not picked up by 12:20pm for every half hour after 12:20pm.  This covers the costs to pay our staff to stay after with the student until they have been safely picked up.

If  your student is the right level and signs up for the afternoon Jr. Aces camp, we can watch over them for the lunch hour (between 12-1pm).  The cost is $19.  Students must bring their own lunch.

Can campers bring their own snack?

Yes, they do not have to eat our snacks.

What type of snacks are provided?

We try to provide a variety of healthy energy snacks and kid favorites.  Examples of what we provided last year are: bananas, orange slices, Goldfish, fruit gummies, Nilla Wafers, and juice boxes.

What do you do about food allergies?

If your child has a food allergy, we recommend they bring their own snacks.  We would be happy to go over any cautionary or emergency directions you have for us that you would like us to be aware of.  These directions can also be include in the registration notes.
